I liked this large home/apartment building for its precarious looking fire escapes. I found it hard to feature crawling out on these escapes unless driven to do so by smoke and fire. I see no obvious escape provision for the second floor.
it should be an apt, coz it's too large for a single family unit. it has very clean lines.

Those escapes do look perilous - perhaps the second-floor folks need go up before they can get down !

Not rooms you would use for your daughters ;-))

Lovely house. I like the red car

they look precarious indeed, especially the one on the left that stands right in front of a door !!! perhaps they have wooden stairs bw the second and top floors, and concrete ones in the rest of the house and that's why they don't need fire escapes there. all in all, this is a peculiar looking house, i'd say - its lower half even seems unfinished (or is it just painted black ?!?).

lets hope they never have to be used!!!

Safety first..not a bad idea..and if something happens there is also the beautiful car standing ready :)

My guess is that you could jump from the second floor! Nicely captured Don! ;-)

I like the contrast between the dark brown and the crisp white of this house. The house is magnificent (complete with fire escapes) & all the gables in the roof! To me, the house appears European in architecture.

I really like the angle you took this from. Really shows off the fire escapes and architecture - lovely in the snow too.

I guess from the 2nd floor you have to jump. Very nice shot.

Your PoV highlights its great four-square design. And I love those chimneys. That had to have been one huge home before being converted into multi-family units! Perhaps the second floor is part of the first floor residence, or the second floor unit has two separate points of egress?

Wonderful perspective! That is a huge house! The fire escapes are interesting. I guess it is good that they are there. I once lived in a house and the upper floor had a large rope tied to a big metal ring on the floor. That was their idea of a fire escape!

Judging by the chimneys, that is an old place. It's good they have the emergency exits.

Maybe you're just supposed to jump out the window and grab the ladder or jump onto the overhang. Interesting.

Interesting fire escapes. I like how you framed this.

My eye was drawn to the fancy chimneys. It looks like each serviced more than one room, indicating that central heat was not an early feature of this home. And I'll bet the fire escapes were not there at the time when dangerous hearth fires were more probable,

You are going to think/know I am crazy...but I love those chimneys. The one is so tall, and the other one so interesting!
