I enjoyed seeing this rugged farmyard with the tiny stream and rustic looking fence along the driveway. The equipment suggests tillable farm land beyond the buildings. The title is my assumption.
In some places it is unfortunate, they build.

There are buildings needed to protect machinery and crops. They could be more environmentally friendly? Could.
Nice road shot !

Great shot Don. Your title is dead right, it seems that for some reason we have to develop land just for the sake of it. Here in MA, there is buildings that have been empty since they were built, and now falling apart. It makes no sense to me.

Partout c'est ainsi, on fait tout et souvent n'importe quoi... sans réfléchir !...
On s'étonne que la nature se révolte .... :))))

It's a wonderful shot of a rural scene. I like the excellent composition.

Super title for this shot Don! The trend at the moment seems to be to build on fertile farm land! ;-)

they like their land with some curves.. :) nice capture.

i think you're right. tuck the buildings where you can to leave as much farmland available. :)

Interesting landscape - seems very hilly. Great view of the place.

love it ... this really looks like a working farm!
your title reflects the ways of farmers in the past, or in desert areas ... a very clever concept, actually !

Oh, I really like this...I love that lane. Love the fence. It just looks like a busy farm.

It always best if there is a threat of flood to build on high ground... perhaps that might be a reason too. Lovely farmstead...

i believe that in every corner there is something worthy of photographing and there is a story in them, this is one of those.

Very beautiful country scene and landscape with the pines in the distance; Great photo!

I really like the fence! The little road makes me want to investigate what is on the other side of the barn. I like the trees in the distance. A lovely image.

"Rustic" is a compliment for this fence, which looks like it is ready to fall down. I too, like the rugged ground with the small stream and trees, but I think the ugly utility pole and taut wires are a counterpart to the ragged fence and uneven ground. Interesting shot.

That is quite a fence! A neat shot of this farmstead.

I like the greens in the shot a lot and the landscape behind, it looks beautiful even with all the ups and downs in the land.
