When the older home is no longer sufficient for mom and pop plus a newer generation, some owners simply build a second home. If a son or daughter's family is gradually inherently the work of running the farm, this seems is a logical development.
A pleasant arrangement.

. . and nicely in tune with each other, too. I gathered the 'relationship' even before reading your narrative.

a very handsome ensemble it is, too .... i think it's a logical thing to do, provided there's enough land available ...

It is wonderful for them to have family that wants to take over the farming...and I love this shot. You should link it to Friday's fences.

A traditional solution, though the ones I have know they usually build across the road or down it a bit. A more common scene is a run-down farm house with a double-wide in front of it - though that is certainly less photogenic.

I like either one of them, they both seem to have pluses.

Such a lovely photo of two wonderful farm homesteads!
6 Apr 2013 4:17am
I really love the old farm house with the white fence and gateway. Would this be 2 generations living next to each other and farming the same land? It is a beautiful farm. Enjoy the weekend. Pamela

Farming is certainly holding this family together, although in separate quarters. A lovely documentary scene.
