Don - Slackwater (
I was struck by the contrast between the lush evergreens and the barren ground in this camping area. It appeared to have been worn bare of any small plants.
I hafta say that does not look natural . . check your boots for radioactivity !

love the sharp and clear presentation and the muted light! this barren forest floor is not uncommon in dense and dark stands of coniferous trees, but here man's activities are probably to blame for this !

You did find a stark contrast here. I wonder whether it is a combination of the shade and the heavy mulch of the fallen needles. Since there appears to be a road/path through the mid-ground, the fore- and backgrounds seem less trodden yet still bare of vegatation.

Is it not just the fine dust of pine needles and dirt combined and yes walked down. Obviously the trees are getting all they need. Interesting shot Don.

Very interesting, as if the plants communicate to each other in essence "don't bother growing where the campers are" !

Maybe the reason the ground is barren are fro those who would want to come and camp out here.

That does seem odd. I wonder how large of an area this occurs in. You'd think there would be a few weeds or something.
