You may remember all the school buses from a post several week ago. This shot comes from the same place. It was surprising to see so many old combines parked in a row. The expense of a new or used combines may make upkeep of older models economical.
They make an interesting group with various levels of deterioration.

Great find. Nice composition. They seem to have been degraded; and lying for possible recycling. :)

And I was looking for a fellow with a green flag getting ready to shout "gentlemen, start your engines.." And that would be one race to see.

Sometimes, farmers switch parts from one combine to another ( in case of a break down.) I don't know how much a combine like that costs, but I think they are expensive! it reminds me of home. Thanks!

I am not from the Western Sahara, but rather the United States! Sorry, everyone!
31 Jan 2012 12:42am
Amazing clarity to this image. The "parts" appear to be embedded in the background, have become flattened against the scenery. Interesting effect.
31 Jan 2012 3:21am
they look ready for the next harvest ...
or are they kept only for their parts ?!?
31 Jan 2012 9:48am
These have been relentlessly scavenged for parts it seems. Even the glass is missing from some. With high prices for wheat and other grains, I guess farmers can afford new equipment.

Everything seems to outlive its usefulness at some point. What was once bright and shiny and high-tech becomes a twisted piece of trash taking up space...except for the photographers.
