It's not much of a picture, but the complete abandonment of the place caught my eye. Sad to see it come down to this. This is my lead in shot for barn day tomorrow.
Abandoned it may be but it still has plenty echoes of happy hard-working days . . the spirit still looks to be there.

It certainly looks like it has been a hard working farm. Working as hard as the people living there.

I like the arrangement of the buildings!
16 Jan 2012 6:23am
your b&w is always fantastic! all the shades and accents are awesome!
16 Jan 2012 6:55am
A pretty B&W landscape
16 Jan 2012 8:06am
looks like a timeline: first there was the small hut, then the big barn and then the big house
and now they all moved to town...

Joli rendu dans ces tons.

as you say a shame to let thing go this way, like your b+w treatment...
16 Jan 2012 12:17pm
Sur un superbe point de vue, dommage qu'elle soit abandonnée ))
16 Jan 2012 1:15pm
A superb panorama and extraordinary place coming from the past !
16 Jan 2012 1:51pm
what a wonderful home it must have been for hard-working families in the past. so very sad.
16 Jan 2012 2:28pm
This IS a very nice photo, but it's an awful shame that the entire place is abandoned... I wonder where the family has gone? What's come of them? Terrible to be uprooted from your home & livelihood!
16 Jan 2012 2:30pm
A great find and framed beautifully. I always wonder about the stories from a place like this!
16 Jan 2012 2:53pm
At first glance I thought the white house on the right was new!
16 Jan 2012 2:58pm
I like the complete absence of junk, abandoned vehicles, etc. It gives the photo an old-fashined feel, soewhat like the depression-era shots of the abandoned dust-bowl farms. The feeling is enhanced by the B&W conversion, of course.
16 Jan 2012 3:46pm
You're right about the sadness of seeing a whole farm abandoned. It makes me want to know the story behind what happened.
16 Jan 2012 4:32pm
What a wonderful air of disrepair in this shot Don! Well seen and captured! ;-)
16 Jan 2012 4:35pm
Great shot. It is a shame to see abandoned places.
16 Jan 2012 4:43pm
It's got a 1940's dustbowl kinds feel to it
16 Jan 2012 4:50pm
so sad to see it deserted...i imagine lots of life back in the day!
16 Jan 2012 6:09pm
A classic timeless shot, Don. I used to see these in the farmlands of Ontario during my drives to and from Toronto when I went home on weekends to visit my dad who still lived in a small town in "beef country", Bruce County. I love this in black and white; haunting.

Nice capture. Great place from the past. Sad to see it is abandoned. :)

I guess drought conditions affect them as badly as they do our farmers here. Still it looks quite usable, and that tree and bush are surviving nicely. Hope it can be redeemed one day. I like the old-worlde feel to this pic, don. :OD

Looks a nice place, what a sad sign of the times. There can't be much worse than loosing your home whatever the circumstances.
16 Jan 2012 7:40pm

16 Jan 2012 7:42pm
This is a beautiful shot, love all the structures and the tree in the center of them...love the b/w! Well seen!

A excellent b&w landscape Don
Photographed from a beautiful position, well done!
16 Jan 2012 9:12pm
It seems to have been abandoned for some time judging by the roofs. I guess the economics or the work got too hard. A super B&W.
16 Jan 2012 10:18pm

Wonderful b&w and great processing. It is amazing to me how things are just left like that. I always wonder what happened to the people.

Boy does this image talk! What a presence. Cool frame Don.
17 Jan 2012 11:48pm
Don't you just wonder what the story is ... and where the people went?
19 Jan 2012 10:03am
That is very sad, looks as though it was a nice spread at one time. Maybe someone will refurbish it at some point...hopefully.
20 Jan 2012 3:42am
Excellent find, Don! Love it in the black and white. Good job.
