This interesting farm near my home appears to provide a stable on the bottom floor and house on the second floor. I included the garage to show the only other building on this site. Have you seen others that have this combination? It's a new one for me. I'm linking this to Friday Fences where fences are included in every shot.
Looks like a very attractive place and an interesting way to choose to live. They must really want to be near their horses.

A new idea for me too! Creates a whole new concept of a home! And love the white of the roving fence line contrasting with the textures and tones of the home!

The traditional way of heating the house Don, Animal central heating, Nice light here

The right one would make a very pretty house ... and the left for the horses.

No, do not think I have seen where there is an actual stable on the bottom...it sure is a nice one. I would love to call that home.

"Stables below, house above" Crikey, I thought that design concept had died out in the 1700's! It must have some kind of practical benefit, as the smell must be a real de-benefit!

This is a first for me too! It's a gorgeous building and structure. The whole setting is breathtaking! Thanks for playing FF Don!

Je veux bien vivre dans celle de droite !...
Magnifique cet endroit.)

White fences just appeal to me. Grand shot of the whole scene Don!
What a view the horses have as well.

Nice fence & mighty fine house/barn! WoW! =)

Very nice frame, Don, and yes there are many properties with this kind of structure. In our case, here in Montana, it is something about only one house allowed, so that people can't turn a property into a development I guess. So, people build barns, and move in, make them a dwelling. Also the barn design is kind of nostalgic I think?

Yeah, but if you come out the cream colored doors on the side facing the camera, you'd better watch out for that first step! Good use of the white fencing to divide the frame into interesting sections, and I like those distant mountains under the pale ble sky.

I've often seen large barns and thought they were good candidates for "upstairs living quarters." The animals' warmth in winter would rise and warm the floor above.

Another very nice find. Love that interesting architecture and the white fencing. It's amazing how much variety in farmsteads you have in your vicinity.

Beautiful timber on the house and barn, love all the fencing too, charming shot!

Your neighbourhood is so beautiful!
Surrounded by snow-capped mountains in the background?!
Wow, take us skiing next time.

Don, the architecture is a bit different, but yes these fine barns are quite common on Kentucky's thoroughbred horse farms. Sometimes the barns will have office space in them. We don't however have your lovely mountain backdrops! White wood fences, yes.

my farrier (who trims my horses' hooves) lives above his horse barn too. :)

It sure is fancy for a horse barn, but maybe the horses that live there are mighty fancy.

altogether a most attractive and cozy-looking place ...
(haven't we seen this before, some time ago?!?)

For the love, and smell of horses! This is new to me, too.

I have seen this. It's an old concept used before central heating and makes care of the animals very convenient in the cold of the winter. The animals kept below the living quarters provide heat, as some have already said. Interesting that it is still being used. But I have also seen old carriage houses used the same way...horses and carriages etc. on the main floor and upstairs can be living quarters for the grooms, etc. Don't you wish you could visit with the owners to find out the reasons...?

Love the snowcapped mountains and, yes, the house-barn too! Karla's funny, isn't she! The glow to this image makes me feel dreamy and wishing I was there, living in such a barn! Of course, we have 'barn'-style housing here too, for living in, but that doesn't answer your query. :O)

can't imagine living so close to the horses.. they must love their horses.. nice capture.. :)

Interesting that all the barns in your area look like they were built yesterday and the land around them too..flawless, no hint of nature run amok. Are all the ranches and farms this way?... few trees or signs of life
