I've posted shots of the Vista House and a distant view of lakes, but atop Mt. Spokane not everything is beautiful. These antennas are at the very top (elevation 5883 feet / 1793 metres). One television station has their antenna here, a rural broadband internet service is here plus K7MMA, an amateur radio relay station. At least one is a cell phone tower, but I have no idea what the other large dishes are used for. This is my sky shot for Friday!
It's nice to have radio with my new commute!

I guess it's a price we have to pay for a connected society. At least there are some trees that soften the ugliness

I guess Chris is right about the trees but I've seen a complaint from a guy who has a 900 MHz YAG antenna in his front yard to get a direct view of Mt. Spokane where Air-Pipe has a transmit. Reckons that vegetation needs clearing to improve his signal in poor weather !

I agree, not very pretty...but think what they mean to people. And I often wonder what people a thousand years from now will think of things like this.

High tech ugly under a lovely subtle blue sky. Nice observation, Don.

A forest of "electronica." You know? I took a picture the other day of lots of power lines, and posted it. Funny when we synchronize in our post ideas. This is interesting, and sort of clutzy looking like the trailer park of satelite gizmos.

A real clutter job, eh? Not what one normally associates with mountain tops, which makes this a very interesting shot. That PowerShot gives a fine crisp result, too.

The bad moment is when installing the first antenna. After spoiling the place, it seems wise to me to put as many as you can there to save as many other mountains as you can. Crisp atmosphere and beautiful colors.

eh bien si on pouvait avec ces engins se connecter avec les autres planètes!!!!
passe d'agréables moments et à bientôt

Thank goodness it's Friday....and this shot is great, knowing that you are that high up! WOW! Lots of antenna for a high spot...wondering about winters!

Great capture of this High tech sky. Lots of antenna here. Love the tees and blue sky. Excellent presentation. :)

Nice shot. We have those here also. It is almost to the point that they are there and they have become an expected part of the landscape and you don't even notice them. Maybe they are looking for the satellite that is falling from space!

I guess a lot of beautiful must now have transmitters, receivers, dishes on them now. A part of our world.
23 Sep 2011 8:18pm
Same stuff here Don, but you only really see them if you go up there. At least it was a nice sunny day for you.

Wow that's a lot of technology shoved into a small space! Nice capture.

Must be some State Patrol commo gear up there, too. A nice detail shot.
