On the trip to Omak we drove by widely varied countryside. I took this drive by shot because it was so typical of the rugged mountainous area with broad valley where people had built homes and were farming.
I'm surprised to see this shot! We need to plan a photo expedition soon!

A place which seems dry and a little bit deserted but whose curves are very attractive

Looks to be as dry as a bone, not an easy place to live

Looks dry and hot. I like the mountains in the background and I hope these people aren't lonely out there.

farming? what kind of plant can be grown here?

Don't know if I'd be tough enough to live out there in the rugged mountains, especially in winter, but it sure is beautiful!!! =)

Good shot of the terrain and man's relative insignificance.

Looks like country for the hardy pioneer types.

I am always astounded by how people manage to create a ranch in such terrain.

At first glance it looks rather inhospitable (though ruggedly beautiful) and yet here we have people flourishing on the land. Amazing how adaptable we are! Nice shot, Don.
