like to call this one "Picnic Valley." It is not one of my best black and whites. This one was much more difficult to process with excessive grain and contrast that was difficult to control. Anyway, I liked it because it has people in the scene.
What an awesome picnic spot!

I like this. It reminds me of one my husband's grandfather's photos from a long time ago.

looks like a nice national park there
27 Apr 2011 9:16am
good shot, the people give size to the valley and the mountains
27 Apr 2011 11:25am
the curve of the valley makes the gaze swing from left to right and back and so on

i like the sweeping view with the people in the foreground giving a sense of proportion to the image! and i like the b&w processing for its soft tonality!

Yes, I can see the grain in the sky. And based on the shadows of the humans, you were dealing with some pretty harsh light. So the overall image is quite nice despite your self criticism. Perhaps if you'd waited until a few figures were sitting at the tables and eating you would have had a really memorable "picnic" shot.

grand landscape. I like having the people in the foreground.

I'm not bothered by the grain, because the composition is superb and the view is amazing... all the better for its scale due to those tiny human figures.
