Broken stump

An old stump along the Spokane River. I liked the textures and the way sunlight fell on the top of the log while leaving the bottom and grass behind in the shade. (Canon S90, 1/125 at f3.5, ISO 80, 10.8mm.)

I like the grain and the jagged edges brought out by the sharply angled light. The hints of brown and blue provide nice color relief.

Good evening, Don
I also like the photo very well. The clean natural colors including the structures of the tree trunk are excellent for expression. Grasses and leaves behind the tree showed a very beautiful background. 5 stars ***** for the beautiful nature photo. Nature gives us time and again very nice shots. Every day I discover during my walks new and interesting things. The day was pleasant and nice but very cold. For several days the outside temperature changes from plus to minus degrees. The outside temperature is tonight minus 0.9 degree Celsius. Thank you for all your nice comments and stars of the past few days. I try again in between to leave comments. Have a nice time and all the best including your family and friends. Take care, my friend.
Dear greetings Christel, Detlev and Ranger.

That old stump almost seems to have turned to stone. I like those great textures and the light and shadow on the stump.

Perfectly rendered image. I first thought it was a petrified tree, I guess it will be in a few million years.

At first glance, imagined I was looking down at a massive mountain with steep cliffs. Excellent capture of this fascinating natural artwork.
