A drive by shot of typical grain growing country west of Spokane. I finally decided to post it for it's example of farm living with neighbors far away and
from distance from town.
This guy isn't very neighborly.

The wide expanse of many of these farms and the distance between them is always amazing to me. Such isolation, such exposure to the elements, and yet in these places people really rely on each other and help each other. It's a beautiful shot!

I wonder how I would get on in that environment? Like the solitude-not sure.... Well documented shot!

Simple and beautiful

A place in the middle of nowhere. I have always admired people that can live in solitude with no houses and people around. A really good capture of this.

What an expansive place...
You have conveyed the mood/feel very well..
Surely one cannot walk around to his neighbours to say "hi"...possibly have to drive around?
Or am I exagerating?..Lovely shot..
One thing is certain..the air would be fresh with no pollution...

Nice isolation in the plains shot

That looks even more lonely than some of the farms/cornfields around here. I often wish I could see farms like this in pioneer times. Can you imagine all the work there was then?

Wonderful minimalist shot......

LOVE your title. Really fits this great composition well. Such wonderful wide open space. I love it.

The huge space in this shot gives a feeling of a vast and open landscape, room to breath. A delightful view of the farm.

Don, in the past I never imagined this type of wide open farm land in Washington State -- perhaps always thinking of the mountains to the west when thinking of WA. You've certainly given me insight to a different part of WA I'd like to visit.

Un immense espace de beauté !... ))

A wide open country but with some nice mountains in the background. This shot does give a good idea physical isolation of farm life. It shows the importance of getting this nation wired for internet access broadly.

Wonderful landscape! if it wasn't fot the mountains it could have been taken here,
where I live:)

Sure seems remote and isolated, I pictured places like this more in the outback of Australia than here

I really like this, especially for the sense of scale.
The gloomy sky makes a fitting match with the bare ground. It seems early to have the harvest done and the ground bare.

Being a city rat...I dream of those wide open landscapes !
12 Sep 2010 9:31pm
Definitely a wide and vast landscape with a great sense of depth and scale. Wonder how well they know their neighbors. Great shot of this beautiful countryside.

Great shot Don ! Conveys a strong sense of vastness and loneliness.

This really shows the empty expanse. Excellent shot.

yikes.. i can only imagine their reaction when they're in a big city.. :) nice capture..

So much wide open land, nice to see less civilization.
