A Silly Tuesday Critter

Don (Spokane, United States) on 11 May 2010 in Plant & Nature.

In my yard while shooting the Oregon Grape, I saw this little one-inch wide device hanging on a bushes' branch. I thought it looked spider-like, or perhaps even alien, but was most puzzled with how it got attached.

Luke Wiley from Spokane Washington, United States

Interesting, it must have been there from very early on.

Very interesting! What is it? is the first question. And, indeed, how did it get there?
The juxtaposition of the new leaf and the iron is nice too.

11 May 2010 1:49pm

@Wim van der Meij: I had the same question when I first saw it. I have no idea what it was supposed to do.

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

Such a cool shot does look like some sort of spider, it is intriguing how it got there as it looks solid maybe the tree grew up through it

Those alien critters can grow that attachment at will. Or, so I've heard. A cool and funny shot.

Had to look twice to determine it was not alive. Looks like something that might be wrapped around someone's face in an episode of X-Files. Nice DoF in this one too.
