Today I took a picture of my first blossom in my tiny garden. It seemed fitting that it was a periwinkle."Originally a native of southern Europe, plants were brought over by the colonists, and now it has naturalized over much of the Northeast. "Periwinkle" is thought to be an old Slavic word, pervinka, meaning "first" and referring to the early spring flowers."
Fresh clean Blue, and a perfect form. (and shot) !

What an unique blue you've captured. I had never heard of a Periwinkle. This photo puts me in mind of a Georgia OKeeffe painting.

Wonderful detail. I especially like the way the blues on the petals and the greens in the leaves show such subtle variations and patterns.

That almost looks like a painting. Blue flowers are special because they're more rare, it seems.
