A reprocessed image. The beaches near Kalaloch, Washington, were all strewn with these weathered logs. Notice the beach walkers who appear rather tiny on this huge beach.
I can imagine this scene to look quite prehistoric without the walkers, but they do add scale to the image. Look at that beautiful driftwood just waiting for an enterprising artist to come along...!

The figures put everything into perspective. No shortage of firewood for a beach barbecue:0 Nicely done Don

It looks like Dinosaure's bones...
10 Feb 2010 11:17am

Great natural composition. I like colours too...

Like an elephant graveyard. Well composed!

I like the deep green of the hillside above the bleached logs. The tiny humans add scale to the rocks (or rather, the regular-sized humans give scale to the huge rocks - LOL).

very impressive image
10 Feb 2010 3:30pm
Wonderful ! Now, with red and blue person over there , one can feel the right dimension of this place. Very impressive .
10 Feb 2010 3:31pm
The two figures give scale to yout landscape. Much bigger than you'd think.

Terrific capture, Don. Makes me antsy to get to the Coast!
10 Feb 2010 4:38pm
Like the bones of a dinosaur, or the remnants of a battlefield. A superb shot Don. Atmospheric and very inviting to my eyes.

Hi Don, it's actually a hotel room to rent for an night or two during the sumer. One have to climb a very steep ladder to get there :-)

Ya know, someone out there may be able to make a fortune w/ all that driftwood, cuz there's tons of folks around here that use it for decorations in their yards & flower gardens. It's a thought!

Toujours aussi impressionnée par ce spectacle ....
10 Feb 2010 6:15pm

10 Feb 2010 6:21pm
They look like bones scattered in the sand.

I would love to see the west coastline. Those rocks are amazing. Your capture is superb.

We participated in Washington Coastal Cleanup Day at Kalaloch last April. We hadn't been there in years. We hope to do it again this year.
11 Feb 2010 3:18am
I wouldn't have thought the logs were so large without the people in the photo. It's one of those strange perspectives where it doesn't seem quite right. Interesting.
11 Feb 2010 3:37am
I spent a week at Kalaloch several years ago - best, most relaxing, vacation ever. Loved it! Love this shot, Don - fine memories.

Lovely photos. I was just up near Pacific Beach yesterday. My family has a house there. We didn't get up to Kalaloch this year.
