Runaway Truck RampsPosted by Slackwater - Don (Spokane, United States) on 3 November 2011 in Documentary & Street. We drove to Lewiston, Idaho yesterday. This is a shot of one of the five runaway truck ramps on US 95 which drops about 1,000 feet (304.8m) over 6 miles (9.6k) to Lewiston. These deep sand truck ramps are availabile to trucker's who experience brake failure on the 7% grade and are in a life threatening, unstoppable truck. The state had posted a sign telling truckers they will not be fined if they use a runaway truck ramp….as though a driver might avoid a fine when faced with a serious, life-threatening wreck! h:-)i
