Turnbull Game Preserve wetlandsPosted by Slackwater - don (spokane, United States) on 4 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural. A scanned medium format negative of the wetlands on the Turnbull Game Preserve near Cheney, Washington. The Turnbull National Wildlife refuge, 17,000 acres in size (68 square kilometers), is 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of my home town. 'It is used by 16 species of ducks, sixty-three species of migratory birds, including house wrens and yellow warblers. In addition, elk, coyotes, white-tailed deer, Columbian ground squirrels, badgers and porcupines can be found in the refuge's forests, meadows and wetlands'.

Marvelous reflections 4 Apr 2009 3:06pm daina from New York, United StatesThe line of trees almost looks like a semi-circle similar to the water line – well seen, and then of course there is your terrific b&w and all the textures you bring out. I look at this land and imagine how careful you had to be – where to step so that you would not end up in the water. The hazards of nature photography are many as I am discovering. 4 Apr 2009 3:22pm grouser from Ludlow, United KingdomAnother one of your lovely water B/W's 4 Apr 2009 3:46pm Philip from Joburg, South AfricaWell this really sounds like a place for me :) great reflections in the water overall an excellent composition !! 4 Apr 2009 4:32pm observing from North West, United KingdomWetlands is about the right name for this place.. it looks very peaceful there Don.
