Peone Wetlands

A recent shot of the Peone wetlands about 15 miles from my home. This picture was taken from the same spot from which I shot the Canadian geese on March 17, but in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, by the time I took this picture the ducks, who had been swimming there, had long departed. Mt. Spokane can be seen at the left edge of the picture.

Great low angle approach to this vista or at least it feels as if we are close to the ground. The contrasting textures and colors of the dry grass and water are very pronounced as if one could touch them. The composition is terrific – I like how the trees and mountains intersect in the distance and the clouds and their reflections connect everything.

I love the meandering water of the wetlands leading our eye into the image. Lots of nice texture in this as well.
