The background for these orchids was a ceiling window in a conservatory. A window frame detracted from the image so I deleted it. The result, I feel, is somewhat unreal looking orchids. Then, I thought of the conservatory and decided that its controlled humidity and temperature is also unreal - a fitting place for unreal orchids! :-) I still find them very appealing.

They are beautifully unreal. Nicely shot Don.
My favourites are the bee orchids. There is something profound and amazing about a plant that has evolved to mimic an insect.

no, if you hadn't explained the background then I would have guessed you used a lightbox. I love the detail of the orchids and feel this is a very appealing image. Good work.
