A scanned medium format negative. A companion piece to another shot this week.

Thanks for all the comment on the snowy cottage and the concern for roof collapse. For those interested, a large Rosauer's store had a roof collapse with sufficient warning with snapping and pieces falling that the store was evacuated so no one was injured. A roof over a fitness club's swimming pool collapsed with several people in the pool...all escaped without injury. Numerous carports and other lightly framed structures have broken down. Flat roofs on businesses seem particularly vulnerable and many are trying to clear large expanses of snow. It is common to see owners atop their homes shoveling snow! Eight to 10 inches more snow turning to rain is forecast for today exacerbating the problem. With all the mild winters in the past 10 years I think we've come to think it COULDN'T snow 'big snows' here anymore. Mother Nature proves her prowess once again! :-)

What a wonderful shot, I never though of the possible damages and caving in off roofs with all that sow, must be a nightmare to deal with, glad the stories you reported no one was badly injured, lets hope after this burst of snow it backs off for a bit

Amazing the damage that can be caused by the wight of the snow. What can look so beautiful, can also be dangerous as well. This is a cracking image, Don. Marvellous textures accentuated in mono. Superb

Lovely combination of textures from the shakes and rope. Nice B/W treatment. I can never bring myself to discard the colour.
Interesting reading about the snow there. I had just assumed it was usual for you. We are having it much colder than recent years too, but no snow so far, just frost and fog.
